The Birth of the Fit Kitchen

The Fit

Back in the 6th grade, I purchased my first exercise book.  I’ve been hooked ever since.  Well, there was some time in the middle when birthing and raising 3 children took center stage, and life got in the way of my dreams.  But I’m finally where I want to be – fit, healthy, and inspiring other people to do the same.

I am a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE), NESTA Certified Fitness Nutrition Coach, and Licensed Massage Therapist. The majority of my work is at Trilogy at Vistancia in Peoria, Arizona. I also work with Dr. Scott Mitchell of Mitchell Chiropractic and with Dr. Amy Whittington.

The Kitchen

Like many of the best ideas, it sort of just took a life of its own.  When I was really working hard with my own personal trainer, I wasn’t getting the results as quickly and as dramatically as I wanted, I went back to my nutrition text books and studied, studied, studied – applied the knowledge – entered a contest and WON!!!!

After that, everyone has asked me how they should eat to get better results.  When I’m working with a client, it is his/her #1 comment: “I don’t know what to eat.” Furthermore, some don’t know how to shop.  Society has turned into a fast food jungle.

Please understand, that to get me talking about food and exercise is not difficult – it’s getting me to stop and contain myself that’s tricky.  I started teaching clients how to shop, how to prepare their meals and their groceries, and how to cook the food once they have it at home- and more importantly, how to eat everything they bought.

Another concern clients have is that their kids won’t eat healthy.  I think they can, so I started “Kids Cook For You” – a healthy cooking class where the kids prepare the family meal with fresh ingredients – things that parents wouldn’t normally fix for their children or families, mainly out of fear that the kids just wouldn’t like it.

So I’ve come full circle.  You can’t have the healthiest body without feeding it correctly; you can’t have the fittest body without exercising it correctly.  They go hand-in-hand.
